Frances A. England, age 99, formerly of Corning, died Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Absolut Care at Three Rivers in Painted Post, NY. \n\n\nFrances was born on April 22, 1916 in Hastings, PA to Domenico and Elizabeth (Ciccotelli) Agosta. She married Louis Gigliello in 1935 and was preceded in death by him in 1954. She married Sherwood England in 1958 and was predeceased by him in 1983. She had worked as a silkscreener for Corning Glass Works in Big Flats plant for many years. She was Past President of the Women's Auxiliary of the VFW, and volunteered at the VFW and Marconi Lodge for many years. Frances enjoyed crocheting, quilting, making quilts for the children and grandchildren. She loved to bake and was famous for baking cookies for weddings, parties and her friends. \n\n\nShe is survived by her daughter, Geraldine "Gerry" (William) Mertson of Newark Valley, NY; a son, Joseph (Rosalie) Gigliello of Corning; step children, Tricia (Richie) Peters and Artie (Linda) England of Utica, NY; 12 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Frances was predeceased by her three sisters, Josephine Green, Grace McIntosh, and Camille Husted.\n\n\nCalling hours will be held on Tuesday, November 24th from 4 - 7 PM at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 E. First Street in Corning. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 25th at St. Mary's Church on State Street in Corning with Father John Forni officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in her name to All Saints Academy, 158 State Street, Corning, NY 14830.\n\n\nFrances' family entrusted her care to Haughey Funeral Home, Inc.
