Florence A. Saunders, age 94, of Corning, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, October 15, 2018 at Elcor Health Services in Horseheads, NY. \n\n\nFlorence was born on May 28, 1924 in Corning to Guy and Dorothy (Hamilton) McIntyre. She married Robert Preset on March 8 in 1941. He predeceased her in 2001. She then married Robert (Lew) Saunders. He predeceased her in 2017. \n\n\nFlorence worked for Corning Pressware, retiring in 1992. She worked for Little Lambs in Corning as a teacher's aide for several years and was a member of the Local 1000 Union.\n\n\nFlorence enjoyed baking, cooking, crocheting, sewing, and making fleece blankets and scarves. \n\n\nFlorence loved to read the Bible. She enjoyed the King's Daughter's Bible Group and The Hillbilly gatherings at Quackenbush Hill Church as well as Ladies' Bible Study groups at North Baptist Church. She was a member of North Baptist Church for many years and later became a member at Breesport Baptist Church. \n\n\nSurviving are her daughters: Sharon Mayes of TN, Patricia (Jim) Kaul of Elmira, Velvet Simmons of Canandaigua and Jackee (Don) Davis of Big Flats; sons: Robert (Star) Preset of Corning and Steven Preset of Corning; sister, Dottie Mogren of Painted Post; brother, John McIntyre of Geneva; nineteen grandchildren; many great- grandchildren and great-great grandchildren to the 5th generation. stepdaughter, Nancy Stonier of Tunkhannock, PA; step son, Thomas (Debbie) Saunders of Big Flats; many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her cousin, Bernice Betts. \n\n\nFlorence was predeceased by her stepson, Robert Saunders; daughters, Janice (Gerry), Grace and Kelly Preset; sister, Shirley Stuart; brothers: Gordon, Guy, Stewart, and Robert McIntyre; daughter-in-law, Sue Preset and son-in-law, Delbert Mayes.\n\n\nCalling hours will be held on Sunday, October 21st from 2 - 4 PM at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 E. First Street in Corning, where funeral services will follow at 4:00 PM with Pastor Doug Forman officiating. Burial will be in Bath National Cemetery.\n\n\nMemorial donations may be made to Breesport Baptist Church or the Billy Graham Library. \n\n\nFlorence's family entrusted her care to Haughey Funeral Home, Inc.
