Esther Rodriguez de Malavet Obituary (1927 - 2021)

Esther Rodriguez de Malavet, age 94, of Painted Post, NY passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at Absolut Care of Three Rivers in Painted Post. She was born April 25, 1927 in Ponce, Puerto Rico to Felix Rodriguez and Pastora Pacheco. Esther married Angel Luis Malavet on January 2, 1966 in Puerto Rico; he predeceased her on June 27, 2019. Esther was an OR registered nurse, supervisor and teacher for 30 years. After retirement she went into teaching LPN's for another 10 years without missing a day. She was an avid reader about spiritual topics. She was also part of the St. Mary's Choir in Corning. She enjoyed Tango music, knitting, sewing, and making dolls. Esther is survived by her son, Dr. Angel (Janette) Malavet of Painted Post; grandchildren, Albert and Monique Malavet of Painted Post; sister, Isabel Rodriguez, and niece, Ellie Arraut. Calling hours will be held on Monday, June 28th from 4 - 7 PM at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 E. First Street in Corning. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 29th at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 51 Maple Street in Addison, New York with Father Patrick Connor officiating. Burial will be in Saint Catherine's Cemetery in Addison. Esther's family entrusted her care to Haughey Funeral Home, Inc.
