Eloise Fox Miller, age 91, of Painted Post, NY died Sunday, November 8, 2015 at Guthrie Corning Hospital. Eloise was born on March 17, 1924 in Corning to Russell and Vera (Ball) Fox. She married George Miller, Jr. on December 11, 1945 in Big Flats and was predeceased by him on July 1, 1999. Eloise graduated from Corning Free Academy in 1941. She served her country in the Women's Air Corps from 1944 to 1946. She worked for Cunnings Stationery in Corning for over 35 years. Eloise played softball for the Corning Crystalettes and the Anthens Maids. She is a proud member of the Corning American Legion and the Corning VFW. She is survived by her daughter, Melissa "Missy" (Jacob) Horvat of Corning; two sons, Russell (Sharon) Miller of Painted Post and George "Dude" (Bertha) Miller, III of Mission, TX; brother, Russell Fox of Corning; grandchildren, George, Ryan, Matthew, Laura, Drew, and Eric; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Chas, Joan, Betty, and Joyce. Eloise was a life long resident of Corning, and was a special friend to all who knew her. She enjoyed reading, cooking and canning, crossword puzzles and making everyone smile. She was proud of being named the world's greatest mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. Eloise had a kind word for everyone she met, and loved to share famous quotes and words to live by. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, November 12th from 4 - 7 PM at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 E. First Street, Corning. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, November 13, 2015 at 9:30 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Painted Post. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery, Park St., Corning. Memorial donations may be made in Eloise's name to Corning Meals On Wheels, 144 Cedar Street, Corning, NY 14830. Eloise's family entrusted her care to Haughey Funeral Home, Inc.
