Eino Fimlaid Obituary (1930 - 2023)

Eino Osker Fimlaid, Jr., of Corning, NY, formerly of Laguna Woods, California, passed away on February 28, 2023. Eino was born on August 27, 1930 in Gardiner, Massachusetts to Eino Osker and Minnie (Stevens) Fimlaid. He graduated from Arlington, Massachusetts High School in 1948. Eino was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force, having served as a Basic Airman in the Korean War, assigned to the 44th Fighter Bomber Squad. While in the Air Force, he earned the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was trained as an E Series System Mechanic. After his discharge, Eino attended night school at Northeastern University in Boston, working full time to support his family, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration in Engineering and Management in 1961. He worked as an engineer at Raytheon, Massachusetts, then relocated to California to work at Northrup Grumman. He enjoyed photography, golfing, Sudoku and crossword puzzles. He walked miles every day when he lived in Laguna Woods, California. Eino outlived all his friends in California, but he made new friends at Woodbrook. He is survived by his two sons, two grandsons, a granddaughter, two great-granchildren, and a nephew and great nieces. Eino's familly has entrusted his care to Haughey Funeral Home, Inc.
