Edwin C. Dillon, age 88, of Willow Drive in Painted Post, NY went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 2, 2012 at Corning Hospital.\n\n\n\n\nEdwin was born on February 19, 1924 in Caton, NY to Cornelius and Matilda (Young) Dillon. He married Betty Bivins in 1949 in Bath, NY at St. Mary's Church. He served his country proudly during World War II as a PFC and taught Link Navigation in the Army Air Corps. He was employed by Ingersoll-Rand Company in Painted Post, NY and retired after 41 years as a cylinder design engineer. Edwin loved fishing in the ocean, hunting, and camping with his family. He had been a Boy Scout leader, was active in school activities and was a communicant of All Saints Parish. He loved his family deeply and took great pride in them. One thing we will always remember about Dad, is how much he loved a good joke. \n\n\n\n\nHe is survived by his wife, Betty at home; three daughters, Patricia Dillon of Lexington, KY, Theresa (Garry) Harned of Ithaca, NY, and Karen (Brian) Morse of Baldwinsville, NY; three sons, David Dillon of Corning, Daniel (Janet) Dillon of Painted Post, and Gregory (Xueyan) Dillon of Horseheads; seven grandchildren, Jenn, Jeff, Ben, Caleb, Sara, Malissa, and Megan; his beagle, Budger. Edwin was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers.\n\n\n\n\nA Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 9, 2012 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Painted Post, NY. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Bath.\n\n\n\n\nIn lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Food Bank of The Southern Tier, 388 Upper Oakwood Avenue, Elmira, NY 14903\n\n\n\n\nHaughey Funeral Home, 216 East First Street in Corning has been entrusted with arrangements.
