Dorothy M. Havlin, age 89, of Pioneer Road in Painted Post died at home Monday, October 28, 2013, surrounded by her loving family.\n\nDorothy was born April 8, 1924 in Hornell to Frank and Ella (Welch) Simmons. She married William "Sonny" Havlin in 1968 and was predeceased by him in 2012.\n\nDorothy was also predeceased by her parents and brothers Stacey, Curtis, and Roy Simmons. \n\nShe is survived by her two sons: Steven (Catherine) Holmes of Savona, Gregory (Brenda) Hafer of Corning; six grandchildren: Michelle (Mike) Cleveland of North Carolina, Shane (Terri) Holmes of Savona, Brandon (Mattie) Holmes of Campbell, Ashleigh Higgins, Courtney and Kiersten Hafer all of Corning. She has nine great grandchildren: Michael, Harry, Courtney, Ashley, Haven, Carlene, Kinssey, Alexander and Abigail. \n\nShe is survived by her sister Doris Monahan of Painted Post and sister-in-law Lois Lidwell of Pennsylvania, several nieces and nephews, and special friends Choulette, Nadine, and Kim. \n\nDorothy worked for Corning Inc. for several years and retired from there. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her husband. \n\nFriends and family are invited to attend calling hours from 10 - 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at the Savona Federated Church. A Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Nathan Cooper officiating.\n\nThe family would like to thank the Care First caregivers for their care given to our loved one. \n\nIn lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Care First Hospice, 11752 East Corning Road, Corning, NY 14830. \n\nDorothy's family has entrusted her care to the Haughey Funeral Home Inc.
