Dennis P. Murphy Obituary (1939 - 2015)

Dennis P. Murphy, age 76, of Big Flats, NY died Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at his home. Dennis was born on April 5, 1939 in Corning to Gerald and Mary (Panyard) Murphy. Dennis was a graduate of Savona High School and Corning Community College. He married Elaine Gridley on October 1, 1977 in Caton. He worked for over forty years at Corning Incorporated, and retired as a machinist in 2001. He is survived by his wife Elaine; daughter, Michelle Berlin of Gastonia, NC; sister, Judith White of Bath; two brothers, Paul (Diane Kelley) Murphy of Corning and Timothy (Monica) Murphy of Corning; several nieces, nephew, and cousins. Dennis was predeceased by his brother, Gerald Murphy, Jr, and his sister, Sallie Dowd. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, June 7th from 2 - 4 PM at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 E. First Street, Corning where funeral services will follow at 4:00 PM with Pastor Chad Sayres officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Caton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Corning Meals On Wheels, 144 Cedar Street, Corning, NY 14830, CareFirst, 11751 East Corning Road, Corning, NY 14830, or to Big Flats Fire Department.
