Daniel L. Smyers, age 75, of Lindley, NY died peacefully on Sunday, October 9, 2016 at home with his family at his side.\n\n\nDan was born on October 29, 1940 in Indiana, PA to Mirl and Alice (Fennel) Smyers. Following graduation from Elder Ridge High School in 1958, Dan enlisted into the United States Army where he served in Germany from 1958 to 1961. Dan worked for Ingersoll-Rand for a short time when was discharged from the service. He worked as a mason for the Local 12, retiring in 1998, and received his 50 service award in 2015. He married Mary "Kay" Lovejoy on September 2, 1972 in Winchester, VA. \n\n\nAs an avid golfer at Indian Hills, Dan was the Senior Club Champion in 1992. He loved hunting, gardening, and caring for his family and land. He enjoyed trips to Las Vegas and local casinos. Most of all, he loved his children and grandchildren.\n\n\nThe family wishes to thank his nurses and members of CareFirst for excellent care, and to Karen Hogue at Market Street Apothecary and her staff for all of their help.\n\n\nHis survivors include his wife Kay; daughter, Shelley Lawrence of Beaver Dams; son, Robert (Wendy) Lawrence of Corning; sisters, Jean Weiss and Nancy Tomlinson; brothers, Glenn (Judy) Smyers and Dennis (Marilyn) Smyers of PA; grandchildren: Kristopher Buck, Jessica Quackenbush, Cody Lawrence, and Nicholas Ingersoll; great granddaughter, Sabrina Ketchum; sisters-in-law: Carole Beck, Sheila Kiegler, Donna Brown, Karen (Tom) Metarko, Margaret Smyers, and Laverna Smyers; brother-in-law, Thomas (Lorie) Lovejoy; numerous nieces and nephews.\n\n\nDan was predeceased by his brothers: Scott, Gordon, Paul, and Wilford Smyers; sisters, Marilyn Brown and Emma Schrack.\n\n\nAt his request, there will be no calling hours or services.
