Clayton M. Walker, Sr., age 87, of Beaver Dams, NY died Thursday, July 5, 2012 at the Bath VA Medical Center.\n\n\n\n\nClayton was born on May 10, 1925 in Conrad, PA to Leon and Ethel (Atkinson) Walker. He served his country during World War II as a waist gunner on a B-17 8th Air Corp, 483 Bomb Group in the Army Air Corps. He was awarded the Purple Heart in 1945, and two Bronze Stars. He married Madeline Rose on July 12, 1952 in LasVegas, NV. He was employed by R. L Callahan as a heavy crane operator for 35 years. \n\n\n\n\nClayton was a life member of the V.F.W, 483th Bomb Group Association, and the Disabled American Veterans. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 746. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He loved his grandchildren and loved spending time with them.\n\n\n\n\nHe is survived by his wife Madeline; a daughter, Lynn (Butch) Robinson of Port Huron, MI; two sons, Clayton (Barbara) Walker, Jr. of Corning and David Walker of Corning; brothers, Alvin Walker of Port Alleghany, PA and Ardell (Clare) Walker of Knoxville, PA; grandchildren, Eric (Juli) Walker of Painted Post, Amy Galusha of Horseheads, Lisa Walker of Corning, Adam Walker of USCG in Cape May, NJ, Brittany Dobson of Corning, Courtney (fiance Jamie Dickens) Robinson of Pearl, MS, Sarah Robinson of Port Huron, MI, Brandon Walker of Missouri, Cassie Walker of Missouri; great grandsons, Eric Jr. and Riley Walker; great granddaughter, Evelyn; sisters-in-law, May Cross of Corning and Jean Kriner of Big Flats; several nieces and nephews. \n\n\n\n\nCalling hours will be held on Tuesday, July 10 from 5 PM until 7 PM at Haughey Funeral Home, 216 E. First Street in Corning where funeral services will follow calling hours at 7:00 PM. Burial will be in Bath National Cemetery with full military honors.\n\n\n\n\nMemorial donations may be made in Clayton's name to the Bath VA Medical Center, 76 Veterans Avenue, Bath, NY 14810.
