Carole S. Hemmings Obituary (1938 - 2023)

Carole S. Hemmings, age 84, of Corning, NY passed away peacefully on January 4, 2023 at Corning Center. She was born September 19, 1938 in Hornell, NY to Murray and Helen (Damrath) Stevens. She was a 1956 graduate of Hornell High School and a 1958 graduate of Erie Community College. Carole worked as a dental hygienist in Rochester, Hornell and Dansville, NY and Tucson, AZ. She was a volunteer at the Southeast Steuben County Library and enjoyed her walks around downtown Corning, as well as doing needlepoint, knitting, crocheting, word search puzzles and reading science fiction novels. She is survived by her daughter, Kirsten (Rich) Fiacco of Corning; sons, Dane Hemmings of Tucson, AZ and Eric Hemmings of Virginia Beach, VA; seven grandchildren: Derek, Kyle and MaryClaire Fiacco and Abby, Alex, Hannah and Hayley Hemmings; sisters, Roberta Fuller of Corning and Marian Heller of CA; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Sylvia Peisher of Hornell and her brother, Bob Stevens of CA. There are no public calling hours or services planned. A family memorial is planned at a later date. Memorial donations in her name can be made to the Corning Community Food Pantry, 11715 East Corning Rd. Corning, NY 14830. Carole's care was entrusted to Haughey Funeral Home, Inc.
