Carmela Ann Joslyn, age 51, of Hornby, NY passed away Monday, April 21, 2014 at Highland Hospital in Rochester, NY after a brave battle with cancer. Born June 7, 1962 in Bath, NY, Carmela was the daughter of Donald and Clara (Saxe) Pasto. She earned her bachelor's degree late in life from Keuka College, while working full-time with two kids. Shortly after, she was hired by Corning Incorporated, where she was employed as a finishing operator for the Diesel Plant. Carmela was an avid gardener and hiker. She loved animals, especially her dogs. Her free time was often occupied by ambitious projects and social activities. Not a moment of Carmela's life was squandered on idle pursuits. She was a strong, creative, and energetic person who will be dearly missed. She is survived by two daughters, Jennifer (Brian) Joslyn-Mahuta of Westminster, MD and Jacqueline Joslyn of Tucson, AZ; two sisters, Marie (Richard) Ulsh of Pittsburgh, PA and Dolores (James) Ziobro of Rochester; two brothers, Stephen (Laura) Pasto of Providence, RI and Francis (Marta) Pasto of Naugatuck, CT; several nieces and nephews; former husband, Richard Joslyn of Watkins Glen. Carmela was predeceased by her parents, a daughter, Julia Joslyn, and a brother, Joseph Pasto. A church service will be held at Friends of the Cross Church in Corning at 10am on Saturday May 3rd. Following this service will be a graveside service will be held at 11am at St. Mary's Cemetery. There will be a luncheon held at the Marconi Lodge at 12pm. Carmela's daughters entrusted their mom's care to Haughey Funeral Home, Inc.
