Annamarie E. "Dottie" Young, age 85, a devoted mother and friend of many, of Corning, NY passed away Friday, August 24, 2012 at Elcor Health Services in Horseheads, NY. Dottie was born on July 11, 1927 in Berlin, Germany to Paul and Martha (Barvokoski) Welak deceased, and a brother Karl Heinz Welak preceded her. She came to the United States in June of 1947 and was married to Robert Young on July 30, 1947. Dottie worked for Corning Glass in Wellsboro, PA, Westinghouse in Bath, and for Penney's in Corning and Elmira. She was employed by Mohawk Airlines (Allegheny Airlines, USAir) in Elmira for 32 years as a ticket agent and translator until her retirement in 1991. Dottie volunteered as a translator for Corning Glass Works and volunteered for the National War Plane Museum. Dottie was a devoted Christian, and participated in various activities of the church including the craft group, and a Past Regent for Chapter 139 of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She was a communicant of St. Joseph the Carpenter Church in Campbell, NY. She is survived by her husband Robert Young, son, Robert (Marilyn) Young Wichita KS, grandson, Jeramiah (Jenny), great grandchildren Riley & Kasey. Grandson, Zachary (Michelle), great grandchildren, Camden & Bryce; granddaughter, Annamarie (Brandon) Kassel; great grandchild, Cooper; granddaughter Sarah Young; son, Paul (Marcia) Young of Monclova, Ohio; grandson Paul M. (Tracy fianc); granddaughter Kimberlee (Jamie) Chilcote; great grandchildren, Jack, Travis & Anthony Raymond; and a niece, Monica (Klaus) Storre of Germany. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 30th from 1 - 3 and 6 - 8 PM at Haughey Funeral Home, 216 East First Street in Corning. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11:00 AM on Friday, August 31 at St. Joseph the Carpenter Catholic Church on Main Street in Campbell with Father Patrick Connor officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Corning.
