Anna Theresa Giardina, age 86, of 110 Creekside Drive, Painted Post, NY, died on Thursday August 3, 2017 at Guthrie Corning Hospital following a brief illness.\n\n \n\nAnna was born November 25, 1930 in Corning to August and Laura (Tenenini) Alteri. She graduated from Corning North Side High School in 1948 and was employed as a telephone operator for the phone company (AT&T). Anna married Peter Giardina, a veteran of the Korean Conflict and assembler for Ingersoll-Rand, on May 12, 1956 at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Corning. She was a communicant of All Saints Parish where she volunteered as lunch monitor and worked as Teacher's Assistant for Pre-kindergarten; she will be remembered by her friends and family as a very kind and generous woman. \n\n \n\nAnna is survived by her son, Peter (Mary) Giardina; brothers, August (Mary) Alteri and Frank (Esther Lou) Alteri; sister-in-law, Shirley (Philip) Giardina; Great Aunt Mary (Emil) DeLorenzo; grandchildren, Mackenzie, Emily, Sarah, Nicole, Jessica, Joseph, Michael and Andrew; great grandchildren, Laura, Olieonna, Eli, and Richard; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Anna was predeceased by her husband, Peter; son, Joseph; daughter, Catherine; and parents, August and Laura.\n\n \n\nA Mass of Christian burial will be held at 9:30 AM on Tuesday August 8th at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 222 Dodge Avenue in Corning. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Corning.\n\n\nThe family would appreciate memorial donations in Anna's name to All Saints Parish, 222 Dodge Avenue, Corning, NY 14830 or to a charity of your choice. \n\n\nAnna's family entrusted her care to Haughey Funeral Home, Inc.
