Alta B. Russell

Alta B. Russell, age 92, of Penn Yan, formerly of Corning, passed away peacefully Monday, February 27, 2017. Alta was born February 17, 1925 in Nichols, NY, to William and Lena (Donnelly) Benjamin. She married Gardner K. Russell and he predeceased her.

She was employed as a waitress for several restaurants in the Corning area.

Alta is survived by daughters Lena Krebs of Corning, NY and Frederica Smith (Stan Dobromil) of Penn Yan, NY; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Alta was predeceased by daughter, Jean Travis, and son-in-law, Richard Krebs.

Calling hours will be Monday, March 6 from 10:00 - 11:30 A.M. at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 E. First Street, Corning, NY.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 pm on Monday, March 6 at St. Mary's Church in Corning. A graveside service will be held immediately following in Nichols, NY Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, have a glass of wine and think of Alta.
