Alfred E. "Fred" Cevette, Jr., age 86, of Painted Post, NY died Monday, April 2, 2018 at Guthrie Corning Hospital surrounded by his loving family.\n\n\nFred was born on August 4, 1931 in Wellsboro, PA to Fred and Nellie (Stowell) Cevette. He was a graduate of Elkland High School and attended R.I.T. Fred served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Waller Destroyer Escort in the Mediterranean. He married Linda Giamei in 1980 in Painted Post. Fred worked for Ingersoll (Dresser)-Rand Company as an Inventory Analyst for 43 years. \n\n\nFred was an avid bowler, golfer, Syracuse basketball fan, and a lifetime Yankee fan. He was a member of the Moose and American Legion. \n\n\nHe is survived by his wife Linda; daughter, Judi (Mark) Hugg of Horseheads; sons, Daryl (Deborah) Cevette of Painted Post, Daniel (Julie) Cevette of Carbondale, CO, and Bob (Bridget) Cevette of Corning; step daughter, Gina Giamei of Brighton, MA; grandchildren, Michael Cevette, Justin (Megan) Hugg, Courtney (Michael) Bulkley, Shane Cevette, Ryan (Andrea) Cevette, Shawn Cevette, and Danny Cevette; 8 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Jeanette Heitzenrater.\n\n\nCalling hours will be on Friday, April 6th from 3 - 6 PM at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 E.
