Corning, New York
Alan B. Kinney, known affectionately as Al, was born on September 14, 1949, in Bath, NY. He was a compassionate soul whose generous nature touched the hearts of all those around him. Al's life was a testament to his deep devotion to the Lord, and his dedication to his faith was nothing short of inspirational. His love for Bible studies and his commitment to bringing others closer to God was evident in his involvement with Diversity Church North in Indianapolis, IN and His Tabernacle Family Church in Horseheads, NY. As it's written in Proverbs 22:6, "Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not depart from it." Al's actions and deeds perfectly embodied these words.
Al's dedication to his family mirrored his commitment to his faith. He was a devoted husband to Maryanne Kinney, whom he married on December 30, 1983. Al was also a loving father to Denise, Darlene, Debbie, Delinda, and Steve, and a compassionate grandfather to his ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild. His love for family extended beyond his immediate circle, as he cherished his relationships with his siblings and their spouses. Al's life was a testament to the power of love, family, and faith. His hobbies, such as woodworking and treating himself and others to ice cream, brought him joy, but what mattered most to him was his faith in Jesus Christ.
He was a decorated Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Before his retirement, Al was a long-standing Maintenance Mechanic at the Corning-Painted Post School District. He was known for his hard work, integrity, and consistency. His work ethic, just like his faith, was unwavering. Al's life was a beautiful journey that took him from New York to Indiana. Despite moving, Al's heart always remained with his loved ones.
Al is survived by his wife, Maryanne, his children: Denise Wyszkowski, Darlene (Jay) Shull, Debbie (Steve) French, Delinda Kinney, and Steve (Becky) Kinney; his ten grandchildren; and one great-grandchild; siblings: Helen (David) Margeson, Joyce (Stan) Lyke, Sheldon (Sandy) Kinney, Sharon (Phil) Margeson, Roger (Mary) Kinney, Bernice (Jim) Piazza, David (Brenda) Kinney, and Sue (Bill) Keck. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Alice Kinney, and his brother, Ron Kinney.
As we remember Al, we are reminded of the immeasurable impact he had on those around him. His compassion, generosity, love, and reliability were not just qualities, but a way of life. To honor him, we encourage you to share your memories and upload photos of Al on his memorial page. His life was a celebration of faith, love, and family, and those are the stories we wish to remember and share.
