Obituary of Justin Lewis

Justin Alexander Lewis, age 18, of Painted Post, died Monday, November 18, 2013 in Corning, NY. Justin was born March 20, 1995 in Elmira, NY. He is the son of Richard C. and Karin R. (Pruden) Lewis, Jr.

Justin was a 2013 graduate of West High School with honors, and was currently a student at Corning Community College as a business major. Justin received a math and science award from Corning Incorporated.

Justin loved playing basketball and baseball. He was in involved in YMCA, little league and high school teams in which he received many awards. He also loved spending time with his family, girlfriend, and friends. He had a natural ability to bring everyone together in both sports and relationships. Justin enjoyed golfing, playing video games, and was passionate about snowmobiling.

Justin was known as being compassionate, fun-loving and patient. It wouldn't be unusual for Justin to stick up for the under-dog or reach out to the less fortunate. He was kindhearted, generous, respectful, slow to anger, forgiving and protective of those he loved. Justin reached out and invested time with each of his sisters. Justin had a unique way of using silly remarks to cheer people up and yet could comfort people in a serious way. Justin was known as being polite and could easily strike up a conversation and attentively show interest with whomever he spoke to. Justin exhibited strong leadership qualities and worked whole-heartily at whatever he set his mind to. Justin was a responsible young man that was confident yet humble.

Survivors include his parents Rick and Karin Lewis, Jr.; twin sister Kaitlyn and younger sister Ashley; grandparents, Sterry Copp, Caryl Copp, and Janice Pruden; aunts and uncles, Ronald (Diane) Pierson, Joseph (Brenda) McClure, Linda Lewis, Kevin Lewis, Daniel Pruden, Pamela Pruden, Jami Boskett; girlfriend, Chelsie Morgan and her parents David and Tari Jo Morgan; many cousins. Justin was predeceased by his grandfather, Gerald Pruden.

Calling hours will be held on Friday November 22nd from 4 - 7 PM at Victory Highway Wesleyan Church, 150 Victory Highway in Painted Post where funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 23rd. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a scholarship fund has been started at the Corning-Painted Post School District in Justin’s name, 136 Charles Street, Painted Post, NY 14870.
