Timothy Shaddock

Obituary of Timothy Shaddock

Timothy S. Shaddock, age 70, of Corning, NY died Sunday, December 10, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Tim was born on August 18, 1947 in Elmira to Robert and Rusty (Coombs) Shaddock.  He was a graduate of East High School and SUNY Cortland. He married Linda Fleming on August 30, 1969 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Painted Post, NY.

Tim was a proud native of Corning, NY, the fourth generation of his family to reside here. His earliest childhood memories were of spending time with his grandparents on "Irish Hill" on Corning's south side. Keuka Lake was another special place for Tim, and he spent many happy summers with his parents and sister, and later, his wife and children at their family cottage. He attended CFA, and was part of the first freshman class at the then newly-constructed East High School where he participated in the first lacrosse program, coached by Joe Corcoran. He was his dad's right-hand man and mascot at the radio station co-owned by Bob, WCBA. He was awarded a New York State citation for bravery for his service during the flood of 1972, and served for six years in the National Guard. He demonstrated his love of community through his membership in several local organizations - Kiwanis, the Scottish Rite Masonic Temple, Boy Scouts of America, and was a member of the Town of Lindley planning board.

After graduating from SUNY Cortland with a teaching degree, Tim taught physical education in the Corning-Painted Post School District for several years. In the late 1970s, he followed his dreams of becoming an entrepreneur by starting his own company, Video One Productions. He pioneered community broadcasting in many ventures through the years, partnering with his father, Bob, and with colleagues and friends Bob Michaels (Dick Martin), Stu Sammis, Bill Whitmore, and Andy Parker, including Tri-River Sports, Concanoga, RLM Sports, and many training and documentation projects for Corning, Incorporated. He had a passionate interest in promoting renewable energy education, and ran weekly seminars at Corning Library for many years. He and Linda "walked the walk" in their daily lives - building a home that ran almost entirely from solar energy.

His greatest passion and love was his wife of 48 years, Linda. They pursued many interests through the years, but the biggest was their time spent with children, then grandchildren, teaching them the art of living a life filled with love and family.

His survivors include his wife Linda; daughter, Kristin (Ron) Van Ormer of Brooktondale, NY; sons, Jason (Megan) Shaddock of Corning, and Jeremy (Rachelle) Shaddock of Denver, CO; mother, Rusty Shaddock of Peoria, AZ; sister, Kim (Bryan) Bennett of Arlington, TX; aunt, Shirley Shaddock of Corning; grandchildren, Giselle, Nolan, Hannah, Kathleen, Liam, and Cannon; and a nephew, Sam (Kasaundra) Bennett of Arlington, TX. He also leaves behind several cousins and lifelong friends, including Tom (Sue) Slater of Richmond, Virginia, the Jackson, Martin, Madden, Carpenter, Puccio and Whitmore families.

The family would like to particularly thank the caring professionals at Care First Hospice, Faulk Cancer Center, Corning Guthrie Hospital and Father Lew Brown. Lastly, for all those not mentioned who did so much to help over the last two years with amazing generosity and love. The journey would not have been the same without you!

Calling hours will be held at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 E. First Street, Corning, NY on Saturday, December 16th from 9 AM until 12 Noon with funeral services following at Noon. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery in Corning.
