Obituary of Laura Howlett

Laura H. Howlett, aged 92 of Indian Hills Road, Painted Post died peacefully at her home in Presho on Saturday, August 26.  She was born in Caton, NY on September 28, 1924 to Lewis J. Taylor and Pearl E. (Davis) Taylor. She was retired from Corning Glass works where she worked for 36 years, ending her long employment there at the Steuben facility.

To those who knew her she was a straight forward, but private woman who enjoyed her family and friends, cooking, gardening, reading, cross word puzzles and Sudoku. Along with her husband, Edward, she settled in Presho in 1954 and together they built their house, tended their gardens and raised four children. 

Laura is survived by her sisters, Marian Cosgrove of Cool, California and Rose Chamberlain of Peach Tree City, Georgia; her children: Michael Houteling, Jeannette R.Ringsmuth, George H.Howlett, Edward R. Howlett, and Loretta J. Simpson; her grandchildren: Edward J.Howlett, Jamie Howlett, Jack Mann, Rose (James) Johnson and Sgt. Stephan (Amanda) Ringsmuth; great grandchildren: Tristen Mann, J.D. Mann, Edward J. Howlett Jr, Elizabeth Howlett, George Howlett Jr, Faith Howlett, Jasmine Johnson, and James Johnson. 

Laura is predeceased by her husband, Edward Howlett, her parents, Lewis and Pearl Taylor, brothers: Louis A, Raymond M., Clyde D., William J, John P., and James T.; as well as, sisters: Arlie Breon, Veneta Keel, Joyce Negri, Helen Louk, Jean N.Taylor and grandson, George E. Howlett.

Laura also leaves numberous nieces, nephews and their children and in many cases, their children's children. 

A celebration of her life will be held at the Erwinna Tavern, 820 Addison Road, Painted Post at 6 pm on Thursday, August 31st. All friends, family and colleagues are welcome... if you have a favorite story to tell, bring it.
