Obituary of Carol Cregan

On Wednesday July 19, 2017, Carol Ann Cregan died peacefully at home in Corning, NY. She was born May 11, 1936 to the late Helen Catherine and William Gustav Nelson.

After graduating from Nazareth College in 1958, Carol Ann spent the next 30 years as an Engineer working on cutting-edge technology. In the 1960s with General Electric, she helped develop early stage large-scale computing systems, and throughout the 1970s she developed the initial interactive user interfaces for those same mainframe computers. During the 1980s Carol Ann was part of the team at Corning Incorporated that built-out the world's first fiber optic manufacturing capabilities all around the globe. She was proud of the people she worked with and their accomplishments together.

Carol Ann enjoyed all sports. An avid golfer, she especially appreciated the friendships that she made out on the course.

For years, Carol Ann actively volunteered at All Saints Parish. Her work and the people there meant a lot to her. And for the past decade she looked forward to working and interacting with the entire staff and her fellow volunteers at Corning Hospital.

Carol Ann is survived by her daughter, Mary Helen Cregan, her son, John Cregan, and her grandsons, Jackson and Josiah Cregan. She is also survived by her beloved sisters and their families, as well as her dear dear friends.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at 11am at St. Vincent De Paul, 222 Dodge Avenue, Corning, NY with Carol Ann's friend, Father Lewis Brown, officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Corning.
