Obituary of Marjorie Johns

"Marge", as she was known by everyone, passed away suddenly at her home on Saturday, July 15, 2017.

Marge was born in Blossburg, PA on January 28, 1936 to the late Howard and Susan Benson.

She attended Blossburg High School through her senior year and was a graduate of the Steuben/Allegany BOCES Coopers Campus as a LPN.

She married Robert (Bob) Johns on February 10, 1956 at the Methodist Church in Wellsboro, PA.

Marge and Bob are the parents of two sons, Steven (Ginger) Johns of Painted Post and David (Lisa) Johns of Avoca and grandmother of five granddaughters: Heidi Johns (James Sutton), Tiffany (Sean) Walruth, Emily Johns, Amanda Johns and Laura (Chip) Wallace and nine great grandchildren.

Marge is survived by her only sibling, Sandra (Lyle) Cook of Coopers Plains and their four children who were like her own, also Bob's Family.

Through the years she was involved with her son's activities and served as PTA President, room mother at Frank Pierce School, and Den Mother for Cub Scout Troop 52. She was a very active member of the Coopers Plains United Methodist Church, now the Coopers Plains Community Church. Marge served on the Administrative Board until her untimely death and as Treasurer of the United Methodist Women for many years. Her greatest joy was singing in the church choir. She was known for her mincemeat (homemade) pies, fudge and the making and engineering of the famous candy Easter eggs.

During her career she worked for the late Dr. Walter Schaefer and numerous doctors at the Guthrie Clinic Centerway Square, who she also considered her friends. Marge made many friends while working for Guthrie. She retired from there in 2008 and enjoyed her life at a slower pace with Bob and her family. She leaves behind many loved ones and dear friends.
