Ethel S. Moncrief, age 98, of Painted Post, NY went to be with her Lord on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at her home.
Ethel was born on August 24, 1919 in East Syracuse, NY to Ernest and Arta (Maxwell) Siver. She graduated from East Syracuse High School and Central City Business Institute in Syracuse, after which she worked as an executive secretary for AT&T for almost 20 years.
In 1947, Ethel married Lloyd “Monny” Moncrief, who predeceased her in 2014. She was an active member of Andrews Memorial United Methodist Church in North Syracuse for over 60 years and has attended North Baptist Church for the last 6 years. Ethel enjoyed playing bridge and pinochle but her passion was her family. She was devoted to her daughter, son-in-law, and her three granddaughters. She loved nothing better than attending her granddaughters’ school, music, and sporting events. She has always been an active person, walking three miles a day with her husband and most recently going to the YMCA. Everyone she met was blessed by her cheerful attitude and ready smile.
She is survived by her daughter, Gayle (Van) Bicknell of Painted Post; sister, Arlene Lehman of Raleigh, NC; granddaughters, Keleigh (Zach) Alsheimer, Logan Bicknell, and Hailey Bicknell; niece, Patricia Sly of Syracuse; nephew, Mark (Sue) Waite of Raleigh, NC, and several other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Evelyn Siver and her brother Merle Siver.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 23rd from 2 - 4 PM at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 E. First Street in Corning where funeral services will follow at 4:00 PM with Reverends Len Robinson and Jim Boris officiating. Burial will be in Collamer Cemetery in Syracuse.
