Loyola (Lola) O'Dell, age 85, of Corning, NY died unexpectedly on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at Guthrie Corning Hospital.
Lola was born on August 17, 1932 in Corning to Arthur and Mary Anna (Aker) Gill. She married Robert O'Dell on June 13, 1953 and was predeceased by him on August 31, 1986.
After graduating from CFA she worked for the FoodMart as a meat cutter. Lola was an avid reader. She enjoyed crocheting, and has made over 100 prayer shawls that All Saints gives to those in need. She made ceramics and enjoyed doing word searches. She was a member of a Tuesday prayer group for over 40 years.
She is survived by two daughters: Christine (Neil) Bianco of Hammondsport and Anita (John) Ferreira of Naugatuck, CT; son, Robert O'Dell of Corning; brother, Arthur (Marion) Gill of Corning; grandchildren, Kim (Shawn) Gillard, Jennifer Ferreira, Danielle Bianco Briana (Cris) Russo, JJ Ferreira, and Teddy (Daisy) O'Dell; great grandchildren, Ali, Grant, Logan, Tayden, Kyron, Maddy, and Lydia; many nieces and nephews.
Lola was predeceased by her siblings, Thomas Gill, Gertrude Gill, Mary Connelly, Gretchen Gill, Anna Gill, Patricia Steele, Rita Gill, and Helen Roe.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 15th from 1 - 3 PM at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 E. First Street in Corning where funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Corning.
