Anne Cunningham, age 89, of Corning, died Saturday, October 21, 2017. She was born at home in Corning on August 31, 1928, the daughter of John and Mary (Hayes) Cunningham.
Anne was a lifetime resident of Corning. She was a graduate of St. Patrick’s Parochial School (1942) and Corning Free Academy (1946). She was employed by Ingersoll-Rand (Painted Post) for eleven years. Anne began her career in banking in 1959 at the Northside office of Lincoln Rochester Bank, East Pulteney St. in Corning. Anne retired from banking in 1986 at the Corning Trust office of Chase Lincoln First Bank, N.A.
Anne was a member of All Saints Parish in Corning, NY.
Anne was very devoted to her family, caring for her mother at home during her mother’s final illness, as well as assisting in the care of other relatives during their periods of extended illness. She was especially helpful with the care of her developmentally disabled niece, Ellen.
Anne is survived by nephews, Joseph Clark of Corning and Thomas (Marla) Clark and their children, Ryan and Rose Clark of Fairport, NY, and several cousins. Anne was predeceased by her father (1951) and mother (1965). She was also predeceased by her brother, Thomas Cunningham (a member of the US Army Air Corps in World War II) (1943); her sister, Marion Solsky (1994); her brother-in-law, Frank Solsky (1992); her sister Elinor Clark (2001); her brother-in-law, John Clark (1988); her niece, Ellen Clark (2011).
Friends may call at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday, November 3, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. (recitation of the Rosary at 8:30 p.m.). A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at St. Mary’s Church, 155 State Street, Reverend John Forni, Celebrant. Interment will be held in the family plot in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Corning, NY immediately following Mass.
Anne’s family is extremely grateful for the very dedicated and caring assistance given to Anne throughout her final illness by Care First.
